public final class Grids
extends java.lang.Object
Description goes here
Provides access to the Grids members.
The Grids allows customization of the chart Plot Area, setting colors and alternate colors, mayor and minor gridlines, tickmarcks, custom gridlines, etc.
PopulateCarProduction(chart1); chart1.getTitles().add(new TitleDockable("Vehicles Production by Type")); chart1.getAxisY().getGrids().setInterlaced(true);
public static void PopulateCarProduction(Chart chart1) { CarProduction[] production = new CarProduction[] { new CarProduction("Jan", 1760, 535, 695 ) , new CarProduction("Feb", 1849, 395, 688 ) , new CarProduction("Mar", 2831, 685, 1047 ) , new CarProduction("Apr", 2851, 984, 1652 ) , new CarProduction("May", 2961, 1579, 1889 ) , new CarProduction("Jun", 1519, 1539, 1766 ) , new CarProduction("Jul", 2633, 1489, 1361 ) , new CarProduction("Aug", 1140, 650, 874 ) , new CarProduction("Sep", 1626, 653, 693 ) , new CarProduction("Oct", 1478, 2236, 786 ) , new CarProduction("Nov", 1306, 1937, 599 ) , new CarProduction("Dec", 1607, 2138, 678 ) }; ObjectProvider objProvider = new ObjectProvider(production); chart1.getDataSourceSettings().setDataSource(objProvider); }

public boolean isInterlaced()
Creates a grid of alternating colors for a selected axis to improve chart readability.
When you set this method to true, a grid with alternating colors is created for the selected axis. This visual attribute helps the end user distinguish the different value ranges in the chart and easily recognize the value of a particular point.
Use the setInterlacedColor
and the chart's setPlotAreaColor
methods to set the Interlaced colors.
If you use this method for both the X and Y axes, the results show overlapping interlaced grids.
Here is an Interlaced grid on the Y axis:
PopulateCarProduction(chart1);
chart1.getTitles().add(new TitleDockable("Vehicles Production by Type"));
chart1.getAxisY().getGrids().setInterlaced(true);
public static void PopulateCarProduction(Chart chart1) { CarProduction[] production = new CarProduction[] { new CarProduction("Jan", 1760, 535, 695 ) , new CarProduction("Feb", 1849, 395, 688 ) , new CarProduction("Mar", 2831, 685, 1047 ) , new CarProduction("Apr", 2851, 984, 1652 ) , new CarProduction("May", 2961, 1579, 1889 ) , new CarProduction("Jun", 1519, 1539, 1766 ) , new CarProduction("Jul", 2633, 1489, 1361 ) , new CarProduction("Aug", 1140, 650, 874 ) , new CarProduction("Sep", 1626, 653, 693 ) , new CarProduction("Oct", 1478, 2236, 786 ) , new CarProduction("Nov", 1306, 1937, 599 ) , new CarProduction("Dec", 1607, 2138, 678 ) }; ObjectProvider objProvider = new ObjectProvider(production); chart1.getDataSourceSettings().setDataSource(objProvider); }

public void setInterlaced(boolean value)
If you use this method for both the X and Y axes, the results show overlapping interlaced grids.

public java.awt.Color getInterlacedColor()
Gets or sets the AlternateColor for a selected Grids object.
The AlternateColor is used when the selected axis is configured as isInterlaced
. The other color is defined by the configured setPlotAreaColor
For more information regarding the Color type, please refer to the Documentation.
Named color are supported (e.g. Red), to use Hex notation you have to use quotes (e.g. "#FF00FF").
Here is an example of an Interlaced Y axis with Interlaced color Red and Plotarea Color:
PopulateCarProduction(chart1);
chart1.getTitles().add(new TitleDockable("Vehicles Production by Type"));
chart1.getAxisY().getGrids().setInterlacedColor(new java.awt.Color(255,0,0,255));
